Information for Exhibitors:

  • Please see General Rules and Regulations.

  • Sequence of the three shows (Morning, Afternoon, Evening) will be shared with registered exhibitors in advance and made available for the public.

  • All Exhibitors required registering under their own name not the name of their business or farm. Such entries will be disqualified for judging.

  • Submit entries to address and/or email on the entry form. OR enter online via www.spencervillefair.ca.

  • All entry forms due at the fair office by 4 pm on the Monday prior to the Fair.

  • Online entries due by Noon on Tuesday the week of the fair.

  • All Exhibitors required to preregister.

  • Absolutely no late entries for unregistered riders on the day of the show.

  • Late additional entries for registered riders must be made no later than day of show prior to start time of the show that day.

  • Exhibitor must be in the day classes to partake in any stake classes other than Novice driver.

  • An Exhibitor is the person showing or handling an animal, not necessarily the owner of said animal.

  • Each Exhibitor pays a $10 Exhibitor fee.

  • Fair share 20% off all prize money.

  • No Exhibitor will be allowed more than two (2) entries in any class.

  • Exhibitors may be requested to show proof of a negative Coggins test for the current year for all horses and ponies being shown.

  • Exhibitors must have their own liability insurance of $2,000,000.00.

  • Under no circumstances should an animal exhibiting signs of transmittable disease be taken to the Spencerville Fair. The show committee and other Fair officials have the right to refuse entry of any animal showing signs of an infectious skin disease (e.g. warts, ringworm). If a vet check is required, it will be at the expense of the exhibitor.

  • Passes will not be mailed, check the Rules and Regulations

  • Exhibitors are responsible for their own errors and those of their agents in preparation of entry forms.

  • Any person who attempts to interfere with the judges while in the discharge of their duties or who at any time on the premises of the Society use any contemptuous or abusive language to any judge in consequence of any award made by the judge shall forfeit any prizemoney to which the person might otherwise be entitled and may be excluded from exhibiting for one year thereafter.

  • Judges are particularly requested to immediately report any such breach of this rule.

  • Exhibitors must present to the ring when class is called.  Any horse showing for a society prize is only eligible to show in the same class for specials. 

Attention: The sequence of the sections in the Horse Shows (morning, afternoon, evening) might be adjusted depending on the entries for the sections and will be finalized on the Friday before the show

  • 22. Hackney Pleasure Horse or Pony shown to suitable vehicle (martingale optional): ponies can have a long or short natural tail and an unbraided mane, but must stand quietly and back readily. Judged on manners, quality, and performance.

Roadster Pony Division Sections: (52 inches and under)

  • 24. Roadster Pony shown to bike: driver must wear stable colours. Judged on performance, speed, quality, and manners

All Breed Open Show Horse Division Sections:

  • 30. English Pleasure - saddle seat attire/no cross entries to Hunter Pleasure – to be shown at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of ring.

  • 31. English Pleasure championship - saddle seat attire/no cross entries to Hunter Pleasure - to be shown at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of ring. Open to horses judged in English Pleasure.

  • 32. Hunter Pleasure – no cross entries to English Pleasure - to be shown at a walk, trot, extended trot, canter, and extended canter. To stand quietly and back readily.

  • 33. Hunter Pleasure championship - no cross entries to English Pleasure - to be shown at a walk, trot, extended trot, canter, and extended canter. To stand quietly and back readily. Open to horses judged in Hunter Pleasure.

  • 34. Western Pleasure – to be shown at a flat walk, jog, and lope both ways of ring.

  • 35. Western Pleasure championship – to be shown at a flat walk, jog, and lope both ways of ring. Open to horses judged in Western Pleasure.

Pleasure Horse Division Sections:

  • 36. Command Class

  • 37. English Pleasure Horse or Pony

  • 38. English Pleasure Horse and Pony Stake

  • 39. Western Equitation Horse or Pony: rider under 18 years of age

  • 40. Western Showmanship: Judged on the performance of the handler, cleanliness and grooming of horse, equipment, and handler, with the behaviour of the horse/pony also considered part of the handler’s responsibility. Must be shown in a western halter and handler in western attire.

  • 41. Junior Showmanship: age 18 and under. Judged on turnout and showing of horse/pony and handler. Cleanliness and manners to count.

Special Division Sections:

Cnossen Memorial Challenge Trophy presented on behalf of Hennie Cnossen and Nephew Dar Cnossen in memory of Carmen Cnossen of Prescott to the winning entry of the Antique Vehicle Class

  • 42. Antique Vehicle Class: any old vehicle in good condition, clean and polished shown with suitable horse or pony (Driver to be suitably dressed, and animals may, but need not, be shown in other classes). Judged 60% on suitability of animal to vehicle and appointment and 40% on performance and manners.

  • 43. Open Pleasure Driving: Single or pair, horse, or pony to be shown to a suitable 2 or 4 wheeled vehicle.

  • 44. Open Pleasure Driving Stake: Single or pair, horse, or pony to be shown to a suitable 2 or 4 wheeled vehicle.

  • 45. "Novice Driver”: within their first year of driving.

Junior Exhibitor Division Sections:

Highest Points Trophy to Junior earning most Points in sections 46-49

  • 46. Junior Hackney Showmanship Class: exhibitor to be 18 years of age or under as of January 1, this year. (Exhibitors or members of the exhibitor’s immediate family must be a member of the Canadian Hackney Society)

  • 47. Canadian Hackney Society Junior Driver driven by junior exhibitor 18 years or under as of January 1, this year: to be shown to four-wheeled vehicle. (Exhibitors or members of the exhibitor’s immediate family must be a member of the Canadian Hackney Society). Judged 50% on manners, quality, performance, and suitability of animal and 50% on driver’s ability.

  • 48. Canadian Hackney Society Pleasure Pony: Junior Exhibitor Driver; single registered Hackney pony 14.2 hands and under to be shown at a pleasure trot, road-trot and walk.

  • 49. Canadian Hackney Society Junior Exhibitor Roadster Pony: Open to all registered Hackneys (mares or geldings), 13 hands and under, suitable to be exhibited by a junior, of good appearance, conformation, manners, and standard colour who travels easily at speed. Roadster Ponies wear long, natural tails. Ponies to be shown in a suitable two-wheeled roaster cart. Drivers to wear stable colours. HELMETS

    ARE MANDATORY. Handlers are permitted but are not to handle the pony. Ponies are to remain checked. To be judged on manners, suitability, performance, and confirmation; 50% for the driver's ability and 50% for the suitability of the animal.
